Music washes the soul-dust {Bon Iver at Red Rocks :through the lens of the iphone}

“Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life”.

~ Berthold Auerbach

After a long week, I was ready to wash away some soul dust. Bon Iver at Red Rocks was more than what I needed.  It’s hard to find words to describe the experience…but if you know their music, if you’ve been to Red Rocks, if you know the deep ways music can touch the soul, then I don’t need words…

Above left, the people in front of us had “The Book of Bon Iver Lyrics & Clarification”. Love it…I admit, I would have liked to read that.

Sean and Em (you may have seen on this blog before) are moving to DC this month.  It hurts my heart to even write it because I will miss them so much.

All deep things are song.  It seems somehow the very central essence of us, song; as if all the rest were but wrappages and hulls”

– Thomas Carlyle

Isn’t is amazing how music can speak for our hearts? Feelings that words can’t express.

It’s healing.

I wish I had more clarity in these photos to share how incredible the stage was…(but they’re not bad for a phone camera 🙂

Em and I (before the show)

“For people on a faith journey, (good-for the soul) music connects the sacred to the ordinary, gives voice to the feelings of the heart, and awakens the soul, leading to a closer relationship with God and people important in their lives”.
