Motherhood as a prayer

mamas circles

Amidst the challenges of modern motherhood, how can we embrace our true identity and live out of a place of flourishing rather than surviving? Maybe in times like these, we just need to know we’re not alone. That there’s a sisterhood of mamas who can witness us as we are, honor where we’ve been, and encourage us onward toward more healing and wholeness.

“We live in a culture that discourages us from paying attention to the soul or true self- and when we fail to pay attention, we end up living soulless lives…”

Mamas Circles are a “kind of community that knows how to welcome the soul and help us hear its voice, a circle of trust” -Parker J. Palmer

more peace,
more presence,
more love.

FAQ’S

Is this for just mamas or mamas and their kids?

For the first few meetings, it’s just for mamas. We may be able to figure out some childcare within the location if that’s something people are desiring/needing!

Is this only for new mamas?

Nope! This is for all mamas - those expecting, those in the middle of it with young ones, those who’ve parented the growing years and are now navigating adult children. We can all relate in some way and learn from one another! All are welcome.

What will we be doing?

The goal of this time is to find connection, support, and helpful practices/tools to help us along in our motherhood journey. Each group may look a little different, but all will include some kind of a grounding practice in the beginning and a question or topic for discussion. We’ll have tea and coffee and maybe take turns bringing treats to share.

Who’s leading it?

To start, this group will be facilitated by me, Abby. I have a background with a masters in social work and hold a 500hr yoga teacher certification with a focus on yoga therapy and trauma-informed practices. You can learn more about me and my work here. I’m holding open hands and hopeful expectations about this group that it will grow, change, and evolve depending on who will come and what the desire/needs are for the group. Maybe others will have a chance to lead a group at some point!? My aim is to create a safe space for support, encouragement, and authentic community. A little village mamas cheering one another on.

Where will it be?

St Peter’s Lutheran Church at 31 W Main St, Port Jervis, NY 12771. You’ll come in through the red doors in the front and head up the stairs to our meeting spot. There is free parking on the street and a few spots in the back.
