Grief/joy circle

where are the safe spaces to name and honor our unique losses as foster and adoptive mothers?

Grief “scatters and shatters”. And it can feel so difficult to confront our grief and loss head-on. Sometimes it just feels easier to bury these painful experiences and “move on” with life (because the rest of the world keeps going) and because we worry that if we open up the floodgates, we may never be able to close them again.

But the reality is, the more we numb/shut down/ ignore/suppress, the more disconnected we become. This disconnection can show up personally with your own body/heart/mind or even with important relationships in your life. This is why entering in, in a safe container with others, is so important.

“Staying vulnerable is a risk we have to take if we want to experience connection.” – Brené Brown

We want to stay connected.

We want to resist the temptation to stay lonely, defeated, sad, or scared.

We want to be able to also hold so much JOY even amidst the losses in our world. The world needs it. WE need it.

Our willingness to process grief and loss has a direct connection to the ability to hold beauty and goodness and joy alongside of the difficult realities in life.

On November 22nd, we are hosting our first workshop/mini-retreat: to sit together as women;

to share honestly, to honor our losses (whether personal, collective, or both), to nourish our nervous systems, and look for joy, together.

Grief/joy circle

Sunday, AUGUST 30th 8pm Eastern time on zoom.

I invited you to enter this safe and sacred container where we will name and honor our losses (both personal and collective), and experience simple and deeply nourishing practices to bring more grounding and peace to your body, mind, and heart.

In this 75 minute virtual session, we will weave together conversation, honoring ritual, and embodied practices to honor your experience and invite beauty and hope into our stories.

You’ll find solace in a community of kindreds who will witness your heart, honor your journey, and reflect back to you the truth that nourishment and healing can happen when we come together as women.

Meet Your Guide:

I’m your host, Abby Mortenson. And I would love to meet you here- in the messy middle of life where grief and joy can co-exist. I’m a foster and adoptive mother and social worker with experience and training in embodied healing modalities like trauma-informed yoga, and integrative somatic trauma therapy. I am curious and passionate about the ways we can heal through hardship and loss. My work is rooted in Christian spiritual practices, and I also honor those arriving from all walks of life and faith (or not) practices. You can learn more about Abby here.
